Short version: Calc Vault has no accounts, no sign-up and no newsletter. We use one analytics tool to understand which calculators people use, your browser remembers a few calculator settings locally, and the values you type into a calculator appear in the page address, which our analytics records. The details follow.
No accounts, nothing to sign up for
You can use every calculator without creating an account or giving us your name or email address. We do not sell or rent data, and we do not show advertising or affiliate offers.
Analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog (US cloud) for product analytics. Requests are sent through our own domain (the /ingest path) and forwarded to PostHog, so the analytics script is not loaded from a third-party domain. PostHog records:
- page views with the full page address (URL) — including any calculator values in it — the referring page and basic device information (browser, operating system, screen size, approximate location derived from the IP address);
- interactions such as clicks on links and buttons, use of a calculator, copying a share link or an embed snippet;
- JavaScript errors, so broken calculators can be found and fixed.
PostHog stores a random identifier in a first-party cookie and in your browser's local storage so that visits from the same browser can be counted together. It is not linked to your identity — we have no accounts or emails to link it to. We use this data only to decide which calculators to improve and to find errors.
Settings stored in your browser
Some calculators remember your defaults — account balance and currency, leverage, favourite currency pair, risk percentage and odds format — in your browser's local storage (under the key calcvault-settings). This stays on your device; it is never sent to our servers. Clearing your browser's site data removes it. Calculator inputs are also mirrored in the page address (URL) so that you can share a calculation. Our analytics records that address with page views and events, so the values you enter reach PostHog as part of the URL. Do not enter anything personal into a calculator.
Live prices
A few forex and crypto calculators pre-fill current prices. Your browser fetches these directly from public data services — exchange rates from Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev) and crypto prices from CoinGecko (api.coingecko.com). Like any web request, those services can see your IP address; no other data is sent to them.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel. As with any web host, Vercel processes technical request data (such as IP address, user agent and the requested page) to serve the site, protect it from abuse and keep short-term logs.
Embedded calculators
When a calculator is embedded on another website, it is served from Calc Vault and the same analytics described above apply inside the embed. The host website's own privacy policy covers everything else on that page.
Your choices
- Browser tracking protection or a content blocker can stop the analytics script; every calculator keeps working without it.
- Deleting cookies and site data for this site removes the analytics identifier and your saved settings.
Changes
If what we collect changes — for example if affiliate links or a newsletter are added — this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change. See also the terms of use.
